The 5th Seminar for Parliaments of Developing Countries organized by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) in cooperation with the National People's Congress (NPC) of China has shed light on the crucial role that parliamentary cooperation plays in achieving sustainable development goals. In his exclusive interview with Guangming Online, Martin Chungong, IPU General Secretary, underscores the viewpoint that sustainable development transcends political boundaries, while China's achievements serve as an inspiring model for global collaboration.
Chungong said, China’s success in advancing SDGs in the past few years is the reason why the seminar chooses China as the gather place for parliamentarians from all countries. China’s remarkable success in poverty reduction stands as a testament to the transformative power of sustainable development initiatives. The nation's focus on developing new cities with sustainable infrastructure, including water facilities, reflects its commitment to citizens' well-being and environmental preservation. Moreover, China's shift towards renewable energies signals a profound dedication to sustainable practices, setting an inspiring example for other nations.
Chungong also points out in the interview, China’s remarkable achievements and the Belt and Road Initiative illustrate a vision of shared prosperity and global cooperation. President Xi's Belt and Road Initiative emerges as a beacon of multilateralism, promoting solidarity among nations, according to Chungong. Its tangible impact is evident across the globe, with contributions to infrastructure development in various countries. From Africa to Balochistan, the Belt and Road Initiative is a tangible reality, supporting citizens' well-being and fostering economic growth.
